Rose Wave

Who wants to go to the beach?

Swimming in the ocean is the greatest feeling I’ve experienced in a while.

I’d like to do it at least once more before the summer disappears.

Slowly overcoming my irrational fear of whales.

But for reals,

I’ll trade you Iceland for all my humidity.

This should have been posted a week ago.

Here Come the Rainbow Bombs

I’m reading a book

in which a group of monks

collect books and tools and bits of technology

because the world has ended.

And although they don’t know what most of things they collect

mean or do,

they collect them anyway

because

they’re concerned about humanity’s future.

That someday, someone will find those things useful.

I collect books, music and the like

because I’m worried than when the world

actually does end,

certain things will be lost forever.

Mostly, this is justification to save useless things.

Caladan to Arrakis

Still working at less than full capacity.

Finding out that I love it.

More Yamaha keys holding down the low ends.

Ran out of tracks.

Four are never enough.

“Twin Peaks” guitars.

“Dune” clips.

Safe to say that Kyle MacLachlan is my hero.

(Diane, I am posting to a blog…)

Spice must flow.

Song a Whenever I Feel Like it (apparently)

Finally got around to committing some ideas to tape.

(for realsies)

Adult job starts soon.

(I hope)

Mo’ money, mo’ equipment.

(Mo’songs)

I plan on changing out the PT-1 melody to something with a vocoder.

Make it sound nicer.

Roboty-er.

Song a Week (Part 6)

I think if I had a set schedule for updating this you’d all get bored really fast.

Think of me like a fun uncle who shows up at random with useless gifts.

Or like a dad who’s constantly on business.

“Here ya go, kiddo. Don’t break it, it’s made in China”

Song a Week (part 5)

This one has been in the works since the summer. I originally had completed most of the song by this past fall, but due to recording limitations I gave up and moved on to something else. I frequently start working on an idea with feverish passion only to give up a week later, or when the juices run out. Typically, I return and finish the project. There are several which I have yet to return to, but they are always on my list.

“Ghost Walrus” is a song with a history that I will not get into now, but will save for later (there’s a theme here). Regardless, I’ve been trading off recording new songs for long standing projects and messing with video’d performances for upcoming things.

This is a video of the first “movement” of the Deatheater song “Ghost Walrus” entitled “(ceremony)”. This is only one part of the larger story/song.

Enjoy:

Song a Week (part 4)

Been hard at work on something fun for everyone.

Don’t want to go into too much detail but you should already be able to guess where this is going.

Here’s another offering on the table of short songs:

I’d love to travel to/through/into/around

but I imagine it being really lonely/boring/pointless.

Here’s a little something fun to go with it:

With love, The Opuscules

The Opuscules asked me to pass this along to you guys.

Apparently they’re working on something with everyone else.

I can only assume more will follow shortly.

For now though, new things for your ears

(and your eyes)

Song a Week (part 3)

Left Brain / Right Brian / What Brain?

Inspired by (of all things) vomit in a snow bank.

Probably the grossest thing I’ve seen since moving to the city.

Like someone had smashed a human brain against it.

Pink, chunky, gooey.

Sunny, melty guitars.

Crushed vocals.

Enjoy.

Oh shi- is dat sum blud?

Ran into some recording issues (excuses, excuses). I have a bit of a backlog of songs to post, so I decided to use the weird in between time to give them a home. This one is short. Extra short. A voice-mail message for “someone we all know”. Get off yr ass and do something.
